Cat and Dog Interviews

Let’s get up close and personal with two dog and cat owners. Maggie and Andrea are both animal rights activists with a passion for helping animals. Both were interviewed about their pets. When asked how Sally, Andrea’s Russian Blue Tabby cat, made her feel calmer, Andrea answered based on her research on the topic of our feline friends. “Well, a lot of studies show that owning a cat makes a happier and more peaceful person,” Andrea explained. She was then asked if Sally made her feel this way, “Yes,” Andrea replied, “whenever I’m with her I feel a sense of calm.” When asked what the main reason cats are her preferred pet, Andrea answered, “I still like dogs, but I feel like cats respect themselves more. They just have to be themselves.”

Andrea was asked a lot about what made Sally special. “She has a personality,” Andrea said affectionately, “A lot of people think cat’s sleep all day and only care about themselves, but that's not true.'' Andrea proclaimed that many people think of stereotypical cats, like the kind shown in movies. Andrea believes that people need to see that cats aren’t mean, unappreciative pets. Andrea describes Sally as “loving, nothing like the stereotypical cat; she loves to be around anybody. She’s also very friendly and never bites or scratches. Sally can show people that cats are just as friendly as dogs.” Andrea’s interview proves that people need to see through the layer of stereotypes placed against cats.

Maggie was also interviewed about her dog Murphy, a pug and beagle mix. When asked what a positive factor of owning a dog was, Maggie answered with a lens mainly focused on how Murphy brought her happiness and joy. “One of the good things about having a dog is that they are active, and they really boost how active you are because you have to take them on walks and it boosts you mentally and physically.” Maggie said. She was also very passionate about the fact that dogs bring the sunshine on a cloudy day for their owners. “Another reason that dogs benefit humans is how much love they give really boosts your happiness and that love is really amazing.”

Maggie also explained that, “having a dog made me really appreciate having an animal at home and it made me into the animal lover I am today.” The interview also focused around what Murphy brought to her life. “Murphy is a sweet, loving dog who brings comfort and joy to my home. I find that if I’m having a bad day he can brighten it up with just his adorable face. Murphy helped me become a more self-aware person and showed me that little acts of kindness can go a long way.”

We’d like to thank Andrea and Maggie for their interviews. Hopefully, after reading this article, you can understand the unique features of owning a cat or dog.
