Everyone has invested in makeup or skincare at one point, whether that be your lotion, sunscreen, blush, or even your body wash. What most people don’t know is the harm that some of these products cause animals. More than 50 million animals are used for testing in the U.S. alone, these animals include mice, rats, rabbits, and more. Dandruff shampoo is rubbed into rabbits fur coats, lipstick is spread over a mouse's body, even your deodorant could be tested on animals.
Some products test on animals to ensure product safety, but as of recently people have found more and more ways to guarantee consumer welfare that is conscious to the creatures that share this world with us.
It is important to buy from cruelty-free brands because it ensures that no harm or suffering has been brought to animals of any kind. Also cruelty-free products tend to be more natural and gentle on your skin, hair, or lips.
Fortunately many makeup and skin care brands are cruelty-free now, and today we would like to highlight a few of these brands. Remember that these are not all the cruelty free brands in the world. If you are ever unsure if a product is cruelty free look for a cruelty free symbol that is certified or look it up on a trusted source!
(Note: Just because a brand is in the “makeup” category doesn’t mean it doesn’t include skin care or hair care products and vice versa. Remember all these brands have cruelty free products.)
