Animal Testing

Edited By Madelyn How would you feel if you were trapped in a cage? Animals are kept in cages, ready to be tested on at any moment! Products shouldn’t be tested on animals because they can be harmful, the animals are encaged, and they're being tested against their will. Some products are very harmful and can hurt any animal who interacts with them. Scientists use products on animals to see if the product is safe for humans. If the product is safe, the animal will be okay, if the animal feels pain or starts swelling, the product is not safe. “Some of the painful experiments that rabbits have endured include having dishwashing liquid, drain cleaner, and other harsh products put into their eyes and having chemicals applied to their skin,” says PETA (an animal rights group). This quote shows that rabbits and other animals are not only being tested but abused. “After the testing, the rabbits are killed so the scientists can study their bodies.” It’s not just the products that are hurting the animals, it’s also the people who hurt them. Animals are being kept in labs and cages. More than 241,000 bunnies are kept in cages every year, these animals never see sunlight or breathe fresh air. PETA found a Maryland lab with caged monkeys ready to be tested, the lab director was charged with many animal cruelty offenses. Animals are being tested and brought to labs against their will. A Sports Illustrated magazine included a sad story about a pet dog being kidnapped and sold to a lab and on May 2013 Gallup poll found out that 6 out of 10 supported animal testing and 4 out of 10 did not. Younger people are less likely to support animal testing than other people. If you didn’t already know, millions of animals are poisoned, blinded, and killed each year just because they were abused or tested with dangerous products. Animal testing cannot be done without causing innocent animals pain and suffering. Animal testing does not save all lives, it kills many too.

If you are looking for ways to help animals, please try not to buy products that support animal testing. Thank you for helping us on this long and difficult journey of saving the animals.
