Meat Consumption

Did you know that the average US citizen consumes around 250 pounds of meat a year? That's 8295 million pounds in the US per year. That's around 174 animals killed for just one human a year.

At that rate, if we were animals, we would rapidly become extinct. So how are farm animals that we eat still alive? The answer is this: Farmers deliver animals into the world to be killed when they get fat and big enough. We raise them knowing that they will only live to have some babies and then be killed for our race to eat. How is that fair?

These animals cant escape their future, and if they try, they’ll just be killed sooner. No hope of staying alive past a couple of years. And frankly, animals are way smarter than humans. Animals aren’t the ones destroying our planet, are they?

But this brings us to a better option. Being a vegan or vegetarian. There are around 9.9 million vegetarians in the United States, and about 1 million vegans. Many people don't know the difference, but the difference between these two is that vegetarians don’t consume meat or fish, but still eat dairy products like milk or eggs. Vegans on the other hand, don't have any animal products, meat or dairy.

But you don't have to give up all your favorite meats, instead switch to meatless Mondays if that works better for you! Even this small action will help so many animals!

This is good for the environment because it doesn’t kill as many animals or use their products.
