There are around 92 Irrawaddy Dolphins left.
These dolphins are threatened not only by
climate change and food scarcity but also by
fishing nets being entangled which can make
these dolphins drown. To learn more about
how and why the Irrawaddy Dolphin is
endangered click on this link the go to WWF.
Although this species has made a comeback, Mountain
Gorillas are endangered due to habitat loss, traps set for
other animals, human diseases, and charcoal making.
Scientists estimate that there are around 1,004 Mountain
Gorillas left in the wild. Humans have been cutting down
the Mountain Gorillas home and using it to make charcoal
which is very dangerous for the Gorillas; also humans give
diseases to these Gorillas and this can kill a whole
population! Traps set for other animals are also a threat to
these Gorillas. Go to WWF to learn more!
Many people over fish this endangered fish. This is
because it is worth so much money because of its
taste; the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna is an important
ingredient for many sushi and other fish related
dishes. If this Tuna goes extinct however, the food
chain for many other animals will go out of sorts
and can lead to many challenges. A main reason
for the near extinction of this fish is overfishing. Go
to WWF to learn more.
Although there are around 40,000-50,000 Asian
Elephants left each year around 35,000 get killed due
to habitat loss, poaching, and other human activities.
The Asian Elephants habitat has been in critical
danger. Humans are starting wildfires and cutting and
plowing the grass and plains. Also illegal poaching
has made this species critically endangered.
Government has specifically banned poaching but
some people still find ways that they can do this. To
learn more about how to help the Asian Elephants
go to WWF.
The Orangutans home are being cut down at an alarmingly
fast rate. Also illegal poachers are killing orangutans, their
big slow bodies make them easy targets and are most often
killed for destroying and eating crops when there isn’t
enough food in the wild. When females are killed with their
offspring the young apes are sold as pets which almost
always kills the orangutan. To learn more about Orangutans
and how to help visit WWF.
